  • It's been a while!!

Been to Los Alamos, New Mexico this weekend. This place was initially founded where Oppenheimer split the atom. They still have laboratories there where lots of physicians work. Oh well it was really nice there and very hot!!

Went into a volcano crater which was huge!!! Obviously it was an inactive one, but it was very interesting anyway. We then went to an Indian reservation where there were some ruins of an old Indian village.

I climbed up to some caves at this place where they would have lived. I can tell you that in the heat there was I was shattered, also we were about 7,400 ft up which is another factor. Anyway, I'm realising that everywhere here is high and you have to be fit or else you just plain out of breath!

    Me at bandellier1

This is me on the way down, so I could cope with working my timer on the camera.

Anyway, the day I arrived in Los Alamos I was shattered after a 7 hour drive and the last two miles I could tell I was climbing and I couldn't see anything to the side of me (ie: shrubs, hard shoulder etc) just barrier then nothing. I thought to myself I be I'm on the side of a cliff! Well don't they say ignorance is bliss!?!?!?! This is the view...................

    Looking back towards santa fe

And yes I am on the road (I was the passenger). Heres another one of the road coming down from Los Alamos!

    road down from Los Alamos1

Anyway had a great weekend and saw loads of Indians, bought a sand painting off one guy which is stunning. He was telling me he was from the Navajo which is the tribe which were the code talkers in the second world war, and he came from near where I'm going on holiday. So he was explaining that where I'm going is where he got the sand for the painting I bought! But I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these on the road side!!!!

    Teepees

They're real ones as well!!! It's stunning here and the people are all very nice.

Oh well back to work tomorrow - not exstatic about that after driving for 13 and a half hours and 950 miles in two days!!! Think I'm getting old!

There will be loads of blogs when I'm on holiday which is now only 15 working days away so stay tuned!!!

  • It's been a good day today.........

We went live today so we did it and nothing too major happened.

Found out also that my sister-in-law is going to be OK, no brain damage from her stroke, thank God!!!!!!!

Coming up to my first weekend on my own so looking at what to do! Whatever it is I'm sure it's gonna be fun!

  • It's been a busy day.....

Been a very busy one today but I got some photos from Lindsey of the chipmunk I fed yesterday.

    So cute!

  • Another perfect day.....

Well, after yesterday I didn't think I could do better but today has been absolutley fantastic. Lindsey and I went to the Rocky Mountain National Park. On the way we stopped off at a layby which was a good photo opportunity. When we were looking round we started to noticed hundreds of chipmunks.
We were so facinated by them they we so sweet. Anyway, a lady then arrived and she started to feed them, and she turned and asked us if we wanted to. She gave us some peanuts and said just to sit on the log and they will come up to us and jump on our knee. Well it was unbelievable. These chipmunks came up to us and sat on our knees and ate away. You could see the more they took the more they're little cheeks puffed out! Anyway, I half got a chipmunk before he jumped off.
    The chipmunk on my knee

After about an hour we dragged ourselves away and headed to the Rocky Mountain National Park itself. We stopped on the way at the Stanley Hotel where Stephen King stayed and got inspiration for the booked "The Shinning" and where the film with Jack Nicholson was filmed.
We then arrived at the park and headed towards Bear Lake which was supposed to be gorgeous. It was 9,475ft high and beautiful. What I didn't realise is that it would be completley frozen over and you could walk straight over it. The area was gorgeous, and I'm going to take my Mum & Dad there when they come and Yolanda when she comes!
    Me ON bear lake

Yes thats me in the middle of the lake. We both made snow angels which was hilarious, as my angel seemed to have rather a large bottom!!! While we were mucking about on the lake these people walked up to us and asked for my help! Bearing in mind they were in complete ski gear with skis and sticks etc, and I couldn't believe they were asking me for help a mere tourist, so I turned round to look behind. To this the whole group burst out laughing and said they only wanted to ask me to take a photo! I think they realised my shock as I was of course very English and not as prepared as they were. They took ours too and as they were locals from the area they welcomed us to Colorado.

We then went a bit further down the mountain and found another lake. We had a stroll around the lake and found a jetty which was a must for a photo, so here you can all see my new cowboy hat which I love!

    Whos that looking cool

Oh well it was a great day and lots more of the park to explore in the future as I got a season pass it was soooooooo gorgeous!

Again I love it here it's so pretty!

  • What a perfect day...........

Well I've had a great great day today. Lindsey and I took a drive to Vail in the Rockies. Its where everyone goes to ski whos anybody. Anyway, we drove out on the I70 to Vail which is 8150ft high. We went over Vail pass which is 10,106ft high thinking thats the highest we went today, but when I was looking at my photos I saw that when we went through the Eisenhower Tunnel we were at an amazing 11,013ft - hope you can see it (Ben Nevis is 4406 - just to put it in perspective!!!!!!)

    Eisenhower Tunnel

The views were absolutley amazing so I hope you don't mind quite a few photos today, but this next picture is stunning!

    AMAZING

This are up here is absolutley gorgeous and I think we spent the whole journey up to Vail going WOW look at that isn't it amazing. We did stop to take a few photos every now and then but at -5 to -7 it was not for the faint hearted.

Me my car and the view

See even my car looks tiny against those mountains and yes I was absolutley FREEZING. I thought that only being out for a few minutes I wouldn't put my ski jacket on but I wish I had. Anyway, heres one final photo of those gorgeous mountains - I could have filled pages and pages of photos so I chose my favourites for this.

    AMAZING1

I'm so lucky to be here...............I love it!

  • I'm so glad it's the weekend!!!!!

What a week........oh well thank goodness it's the weekend. Am off to Vail tomorrow, which is a mecca for skiing. Not going to be tempting the ski four days before we go live, but I may be going on a sleigh or two and maybe some other fun things.

Got a decent photo from Lindsey where she caught me (the girl scared of heights) jumping over a rail to get a photo of the mountain! Yes it was quite high but it's half the fun over here!!! I got a good photo on my camera though!!!

    I got caught

Anyway, I'm sure we'll have some good photos to put on the blog tomorrow.

  • Happy 4 week anniversay to me...........

Was in a meeting in the office today and saw something which I just had to get my camera, so I had to excuse myself. What a tourist!!!!!!!

Anyway, what distracted me was trundling past our window was a WW2 bomber..........yes you probably all thought I was going to say my future husband but it's every day one of these drive past you!

One of the guys in the office says it's the only flying bomber of it's type, and yes it did take off!

    Bomber Taking off

Added to the view for the day anyway............

As I said, I can't believe I excused myself from a meeting to take this photo! It's only a few million dollars we're playing with!

  • We have the roller coaster pictures

Well I've got the roller coaster pic's and they're hillarious.......................so here we go

Lindsey and me on the way up   On the way up

Then over the top we go..........   I really wasn't that scared

    And down we go.........................    Woooooooo

    And down.....................................    Mad22

So you get the picture, it was mad and HUGE.

  • I've got a new car

Well I've had a really good weekend. Yesterday (saturday) Lindsey and I went to Elitch Gardens which is an amuzement park in Denver. Went on every roller coaster and really enjoyed it, they had a massive wooden roller coaster which we managed to take some pictures while we were on it but that was on Lindsey camera so we'll have to wait for those.

Then after that I had to renew my contract on my hire car as it's a month this week since I've been here. Well, I had to exchange cars because the one I had before the brakes were a little dodgy on them and it was awfull. It was the lowest of the low in the line of cars and had nothing! So I ask for the next car size up. But they had none of those so they have given me a Jeep Cheroke for the same price as the one I had last month!!! It's GORGEOUS! Angela, it's not quite the pink Hummer but nearly there!!! Take a look.........

    I love it

    Cool isn't it!

  • Denver Nuggets 111 - Houston Rockets 94 Yay!!!

Well I went to my first basketball match last night and it was fantastic. The atmosphere was absolutely fab. At the start of the match someone came on and sang the national anthem and the whole place was deathly silent except a sweet little girl behind us who was singing her little heart out. Was so sweet.

Then they brought on the mascot and cheerleaders to start it off. When the game starter the whole place took off, it was mad, and the Nuggets thankfully scored first then went on to win the match.

Anyway may have found my future job!
    My ideal job
NBA physio - how well paid would that be.....

Oh well check out if you can spot the ball in this shot, which I hasten to add is a GREAT shot!

    Can you see the ball

So all through the game there was loads of entertainment every time there was a time out or a quarter breaks. They had some OAPs doing the Soulja Boy dance which was hilarious, and then another time they had a little tiny kid who did some break dancing which was absolutley fab!

Then at halftime would you believe it but there was a wedding. Yes someone truely got married in front of about 15,000 fans. Madness!!!

Of course there were also some cheerleaders who were unbelievable. Some of the things they did were mad!

    Ouch

Oh, well gone on enough about this, but it was fantastic. Wish the season was going on longer because I'd love to go to another!

  • Been so busy at work....................

It's been a busy week, in fact I can't believe it's the weekend again. I was surfing the net last night to see what we could get up to this weekend, and saw that there is a NBA playoff game between the Denver Nuggets v Houston Rockets Sunday 13th. So today we've been to the Pepsi Stadium to see if there were any tickets left and YIPPEE there were. So were off to watch the basketball tomorrow night!!!!!! Am soooooooooooo excited.

Anyway, after that we went to the Denver Aquarium which was real cool, got a few good photos.
    Whos scared of sharksJelly Fish

Really cool day, had so much fun. Then tomorrow is the Nuggets, yay! I'm sure I'll be adding something tomorrow about my new experience of BASKETBALL!!!!

  • Went into the Mountains today! WOW

Lindsey our trainer arrived from the UK yesterday, and we both went out for a drive today to a small town called Golden which is the gateway to the Rockies. Saw loads of bikers who were so cool.....
    Easy Riders

We then drove on into the Rockies up to an altitude of 10,000 feet and the roads were terrifying! Fran if you're reading this, Crete was a breeze in comparison.
    WowDouble WowVery steap

The weather was so hot in Golden about 70 and then when we got up here it was about 40.(Ferenheit that is). This place is so gorgeous, it's unbelievable!!!
We finally drove down from Nederland to Boulder through Boulder Canyon which was awesome. We went through a little tunnel cut through the cliff. I love weekends here!!!

  • Sunset over the Flatirons

    Sunset over FlatironsSunset over Flatirons1

Sunset over the mountains where we are. Been out the last couple of nights with the guys from work to a local bar.
Great bunch of people. Went for a meal afterwards with Sheri and had a great laugh.

Going out for a drive over the weekend into the mountains so will have loads of pictures for the blog.

The weather is really weird here, the day I took these photos we couldn't see more than two feet ahead due to snow! Then in the evening it was this clear, with no snow!

Got loads of great channels with all the new CSI's etc.,

  • Nothing much happening!

Nothing much happening at the moment as just working and working!!! Anyone would think they're paying me!

    A real cadilac

Anyway, saw this real life cadillac the other day! So cool, just one of those great american things!! Also thought I'd got to NYC the other day with the line of taxis I saw!!

I thought I was in NYC

Oh well I'm sure I'll get up to something interesting on the weekend. Sheri suggested we go to Vail one weekend so that's high up in the mountains so will get lots of photos there!

  • The weirdness of Broomfield

View from my bedroom1View from my bedroom

This is the view from my bedroom balcony! Quite impressive..........we went out on Saturday, and I got sunburnt cos it was so hot. We went into Denver central and had icecreams!

    Me in Denver

Then next day, I wake up to a massive shock!

    The day after sunburn1

Two inches of snow! This place is GREAT!

  • The fantastic world at 40,000 ft

    Hudson bay3Hudson Bay

This is the cracking (excuse the pun) view of Hudson Bay at 40,000ft. The sea had frozen and large cracks were appearing in it, which I assume one day will become icebergs!

The USA is fantastic, and the people are really nice. My apartment is so cool, and from my bedroom window I can see the rockies.

Went shopping yesterday and the malls are HUGE! So many shops to choose from and so many great styles!

  • Starting to Pack - Finally

After a weekend of goodbyes, and the cats gone to Grandmas I'd better start packing. Next entry will be in Denver. Yeeha!
